1965	Company founded
1971	Name changed to UNIKA CO., LTD. Unika Concrete Drill launched.
1987	Head Office and Tokyo Office combined and moved to current location, to accommodate business expansion.
1991	Iwate Factory built to increase production capacity and manufacture new products with ceramic, diamond and other special materials.
1995	UR21 Multifunction Core Drill Series W recognized with the Good Design Award of the Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. New factory opened near Beijing, China, as LANGFANG RIZHI MACHINERY & TOOL CO., LTD.
1997	Distribution Center established on the grounds of the Gunma Factory. UNIKA ENTERPRISES CO., LTD. established to strengthen and expand operations outside Japan. Vie-Pan Industrial Co., Ltd. established in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as a base for expansion in Southeast Asia.
1998	Launch of the first “environmentally friendly” product, the Q-Bit Dust Suction Drill System. First cordless drills launched.
1999	New factory completed by Langfang Rizhi Machinery & Tool in China. Production department of Gunma Factory integrated into Iwate Factory.
2000	The entire Japan staff toured the new factory in China.
2001	Iwate Factory production area expanded.
2002	Unika and affiliates obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification.
2003	US sales initiated through a national retail chain.
2005	UNIKA MACHINERY & TOOL CO., LTD. founded to expand production and marketing capacities in China. China factory began consignment production for an American company.
2008	UNIKA VIETNAM CO., LTD. established in connection with construction of a new Vietnam factory. Unika Vietnam Co. acquired majority interest in Vie-Pan Industrial Co. which was renamed UNIKA VIE-PAN CO., LTD.

2010	China factories at Langfang Rizhi Machinery & Tool and Unika Machinery & Tool obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification. Iwate Distribution Center opened on grounds of the Iwate Factory, to distribute drill products and strengthen supply chain management.
2011	Japanese company name changed to UNIKA HOLDINGS COMPANY LIMITED, as a pure holding company structure was introduced. UNIKA CO., LTD. reincorporated as a tool production and marketing company.

PRODUCTS

VALUABLE PRODUCTS DEVELOPED FROM A PROFESSIONAL USERS POINT OF VIEW

A number of unique new products developed based on our customers’ needs are supported by the research and development of cutting and metal theories. These ideas are embodied in our proprietary dedicated machines designed and assembled in-house. The Development Department has brought about development not only in terms of development of advanced tools using new materials, but also research and development of products that excel in functionality as well as performance. The Production Department is working toward further streamlining by integrating functions in Japan and strengthening its production system by overseas expansion.

Our marketing strategy is formulated based on marketing information reported daily from the Sales Department. We develop products that are truly valuable from a user’s point of view.

Iwate Factory

This is the center of domestic production and a comprehensive control tower for production in areas including China and Vietnam.
High value-added products such as the UR21 Series are manufactured here. The Engineering Development Department is also located here.

Chinese Factory
(LANGFANG RIZHI MACHINERY & TOOL CO., LTD.)

This is a production base established in the Economic and Technological Development Zone in Langfang City of Hebei Province located midway between Beijing and Tianjin. At our new factory inaugurated at the end of 1998, high-quality and low-cost products are manufactured.
This factory also supplies the giant market of China.

Vietnamese Factory
(UNIKA VIETNAM CO., LTD.)

Advanced tools such as concrete drills and hole saws are mainly manufactured here and shipped directly from Vietnam to countries around the world, including Japan, China, other countries of Asia, the United States, and Europe.
Global standards are recognized in Europe and the United States, the home of electric tools, are manufactured by a promoting thorough streamline operation and automation while taking advantage of the industrious Vietnamese workforce.

Networking for a better tommorrow,by understanding the needs of the time

To have UNIKA products used by as many users as possible and to always maintain contact. This is the basic stance of the UNIKA Sales Department. In addition to daily business operations, information obtained through exhibitions and product seminars is analyzed to provide more advanced and better service to our customers. We currently have eight outlets in Japan and are developing business operations in line with regional characteristics. We pursue expansion and segmentation of markets that will enable us to provide more detailed services to our customers in the future. These markets will extend to Asia and to the world.

JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW

The JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW held at the Makuhari Messe is one of the largest trade shows in Japan. It is an important place of contact for buyers and users.

Exhibition and Sales

April to July and September to November are the seasons of trade shows sponsored by distributors and dealers. Product exhibitions, explanation and demonstrations, and sales are conducted at the exhibition sites.

Product Seminar

Workshops held by our customers and product seminars for new business connections are conducted. We continue to deepen exchanges with our customers.

Overseas Trade Show

Products are exhibited at trade shows around world to globally introduce the Unika brand. Our products were exhibited in China, Germany and the Unites States.
